The E-Class saloon is a luxurious car with plenty of passenger space. That means it's quite a big car, with a large footprint.

It measures in just a little less than five metres long, so you won't be able to squeeze it into very tight parking spaces. Standard-fit front and rear parking sensors do, at least, make it easier to wiggle into the spaces it does fit into.

The E-Class saloon's boot measures in at 540 litres. That's a decent figure and means you should be able to squeeze a family's holiday luggage in there if you pack tactically.

Passenger accommodation in the E-Class saloon is excellent. Front passengers get lots of space and a good view out, while those in the back get plenty of leg and headroom, making it easy to tackle long journeys without a stiff back in sight. The Mercedes E-Class Estate has the edge for cargo room, but there's still loads of space in the saloon's boot for most day-to-day tasks.
